Profiled on Forbes Africa as “shaping the future of the Continent”, Wofai Samuel is an International Relations, Communications, Trade Promotion/Facilitation Executive with more than a decade of experience working with platforms globally to broker agreements, manage stakeholders, and implement dialogues which have served as policy directions for sub-Saharan Africa.

Acting Director-General of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce from April 2023 to October 10th 2025, She joined the Chamber as Director of Communications, Government Relations, Advocacy and Programmes in August 2022. 

Prior to this position, she served as Director of Communications and External Affairs to the United Kingdom-Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Editor of Africa Energy & Infrastructure Magazine, and Head of Oil and Gas Communications to Foreign Investment Network.

At the Nigerian-American Chamber, her track record of managing teams in Nigeria and the United States focused on curating impactful trade development initiatives and strengthening private sector economic partnerships, which have received widespread recognition and have been demonstrated in the projects she has facilitated. Some  include though are not limited to:

  • The Government of Illinois (U.S.A.) Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Inbound Trade Mission to Nigeria in 2024, where 9 Illinois Companies met with over 100 Nigerian Companies to generate new clientele, leads, market entry, and introduce/showcase their products.
  • Samuel played a pivotal role in the Chamber’s outbound Trade Missions to the States of Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC and Florida, curating the overall Registration/participation of 30+ Nigerian Companies.
  • Successful implementation of the Chamber’s Africa Food & Products Exhibition (last held in 2019) with 63 Businesses exhibiting their products at the AFPE Marketplace, and over 1,000 visitors.
  • Samuel organized over 20 Conferences/Meetings at the Chamber for Nigeria’s organized private sector, attracting a collective attendance of more than 2998 businesses. 
  • She fostered mutually productive working relationships with Banks like Stanbic IBTC, Bank of Industry, Sterling Bank, Eco Bank, Turkish Airlines, Chevron, United States-Africa Trade Desk, the Centre for International Private Enterprise, Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce, International Trade Council, California State Department of Transportation, Washington DC Chamber of Commerce,  amongst others.
  • Samuel visibly advanced and further strengthened the Chamber’s relationship with the U.S Consulate General in Nigeria.
  • Having prominently led the Chamber’s Advocacy Drive in increasing its Membership pool/database, generating revenue and declaring profits, Samuel served as spokesperson on multiple leading Media platforms, inclusive of the Voice of America CIPE DC platforms, TVC, Arise TV, Channels amongst others.
  • Administratively, she managed the daily routine of the Head office, leading an excellent team of staff in various departments including: Communications, Programs, Advocacy, Government Relations, Finance, Business Development, Projects, Membership, IT and Admin, working very closely with the President and his Leadership team, as well as the Chamber’s Chapters in U.S. and Nigeria.
  • Samuel served as Acting Executive-Secretary to the Board, EXCO, 5 Committees and 6 sectoral groups of the Chamber.

Samuel has moderated meetings for various organizations globally, including though not limited to: Vertex Next-UAE, Oil & Gas Council, Invest Africa – U.K., Spintelligent-South Africa, Global Trade Review – GTR, Ministry of Petroleum-Kenya, Belarus-Africa Forum in Minsk, Rivers State Government – Nigeria, Montgomery Afrocet Group – U.K. African Export-Import Bank-Egypt, Government of Bayelsa State – Nigeria, African Development Bank-Côte d’Ivoire, International Produced Water Society-U.S.A., Federal Ministry of Communications – Nigeria, African Local Content Fund Initiative – Angola, Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

In 2024, she was ranked among the top 100 career women in Africa. She is a member of the Board of the World Agriculture Forum Council in the Netherlands. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology and Environmental Biology and an Advanced Diploma in HR & Organizational Management from the University of Lagos.

For Non-Governmental Engagements, Samuel has served in senior capacities across various leadership roles, including:

  • West Africa (English) Alumni Representative at the Young African Leaders Initiative Legacy Localisation Roadmap Advisory Group – YALI LL, 2024, funded by the USAID.
  • One of Nigeria’s Alumni Representatives at the USAID YALI Expo & Trade Show in South Africa.
  • West Africa Alumni Rep. – YALI LL Africa, Design Charette, Rwanda, 2024, funded by the USAID.
  • She was elected as Publicity Secretary to the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association, Lagos, from October 2021 until March 2024.
  • Samuel served as a fellow and Communications Chair for Young African Leaders Initiative, West Africa/Nigeria from 2020 – 2021.
